Last updated: 23 August 2026

CashierX counts the cash in your register at the end of the day and helps you put together the float for the next one — banknotes and coins, denomination by denomination. Everything stays on your device.

Need help?

Write to us and we will get back to you.

imdevstudios@gmail.com

We usually reply within a few business days. Please tell us your iOS version and what you were doing when the problem happened — it helps a lot.

NOTE: These questions are the same ones shown inside the App under Settings > Help > Frequently Asked Questions. The two are kept identical.

Counting

How do I enter the notes and coins?

Tap plus or minus next to a value, or tap the number itself and type the count on the keypad. Notes and coins sit on two separate pages; switch with the selector above the list or by swiping sideways. Under Edit you can drag a value somewhere else or take out one you never use, and the plus button that appears there brings a removed one back.

What is the expected amount for?

It is the cash sales your POS or Z report shows. The app adds the opening float, subtracts anything you took out of the till during the day and works out what should be there; the difference is measured against that while you count. The steps are written out on the summary screen and the field can be left blank. It starts off in Simple Mode, where one tap brings it back.

Can I count more than one currency at the same time?

Yes, and there is no limit on how many. Each currency keeps its own count, and the bottom strip shows the counted currencies one after another instead of listing them all at once. Saving writes a separate history row for each currency, because two currencies can never be added together.

Where do I enter card payments?

Tap the card capsule above the count and type the amount from your terminal. It is kept apart from cash: the money is in the bank, not the drawer, so it never changes your cash difference. A day with card takings and no cash can be saved on its own.

Profiles

What is a profile for?

On a shared phone every count carries the name of the person who made it. The history belongs to the shop, so everyone sees all of it, but you can change only your own records. The guest profile is open to everyone; personal profiles are protected by a passcode of 4 digits.

I forgot my passcode. Will my history be deleted?

No. When you open the profile you answer your recovery question and set a new passcode; your counts and history stay untouched.

What happens if I delete a profile?

The profile can no longer be opened, its name goes and the count left on its screen is deleted; this cannot be undone. Its saved days stay in the Admin Panel. Other profiles and the guest profile are not affected.

Two people counted the till on the same day. What happens?

The second count is saved as a new shift on the same day, and the day's takings are the shifts added together. The first count is not overwritten, because a record can be changed only by the person who wrote it. Before you save, the screen shows whose count is already there for that day.

Is the history of a deleted profile gone for good?

No. The profile can no longer be opened and its name is gone, but its saved days stay in the Admin Panel as a faded deleted profile row, told apart by the date of deletion. Clearing those records for good is a separate action behind the panel's passcode, so nobody can wipe out months of takings on the way out.

Shifts

Why am I asked something when I save twice on the same day?

Because it can mean two things: a correction of the earlier count (Update) or a new shift (Add as Shift). With a shift the day's takings become the sum of both entries; the window shows what each button does to the day.

I added a shift by mistake. How do I fix it?

Right after saving, the Undo bar appears just above the bottom strip and removes that entry. If you notice later, open Settings > History, swipe the row and choose Void: it stays in the list with a line through it and no longer counts toward the day. Voiding works only for today and yesterday and cannot be undone.

Can I turn the shift question off completely?

Yes. Tap the shift switch in the strip above the list and saving takes a single step. The switch stays in the strip when it is off, so one tap brings the question back; Settings > Simple Mode is where you remove the feature altogether.

How do shifts look in the history?

Each shift is a row of its own with its own time, and the day's takings are the sum of those rows. The Admin Panel opens the same rows, so the shifts are visible there as well. Voiding one row lowers the day by that amount and leaves the other shifts as they were.

Cash In and Out

What is a safe drop for?

It records the money you take out of the drawer during the day and put in the safe. You count what you are taking out, tap the box button in the bottom strip, and the amount is written to your history as its own row while the count on screen resets to zero. That way the evening count covers only what is left in the drawer, and the cash taken out earlier is not lost.

Does a safe drop change the day's total?

Yes, the amount goes into the day's total and the chart, because money taken out of the drawer is still that day's money. It does not count as a closing count, though: it never triggers the update or shift question when you save later the same day. A drop you void comes back out of the total.

How do I turn safe drops on or off?

In Settings > Simple Mode. The switch is in the strip on the main screen from the start, struck through until you tap it, and that tap turns the feature on for the day. Simple Mode is where you take it out of the app altogether. Drops already saved stay in the history either way.

Money went into the drawer, not out. What do I do?

Count the money you put in and tap the arrow next to the safe drop button. It is recorded as cash put in, added to what should be in the drawer and subtracted from the day, because it is not takings.

Till Opening

What is the till opening?

It records how much money the till starts the day with. If you entered an amount as the next day float the evening before, it reminds you in the morning and compares it with what you find, and any difference gets a row of its own. You can open the strip whenever you like with the button next to the next day float.

Why is the strip not showing?

The strip comes up on its own only if an amount was entered as tomorrow's float on an earlier day; it does not come up on the day the amount was entered, and it stops once the record is more than 7 days old. Checking it or closing it silences the reminder, but the amount stays on record and goes into the evening's account as the opening float. You can open it yourself at any time with the button next to the next day float.

Does the till opening go into my history?

Yes. The amount the day started with goes in as a row of its own and sits under the column in the chart in its own colour, and it does not count as takings, because that money was not earned that day. If you find less or more in the morning, the difference gets its own movement row and can be voided like any other.

Next Day Float

How is tomorrow's float worked out?

You enter the amount that should stay in the drawer and the app shows you which notes and coins to make it up from. The aim is not to use as few notes as possible: it is to be able to give every customer their change all morning. That is why the suggestion leans on coins and small notes, leaving enough change to cover every amount below the smallest note, and to do it for many customers in a row.

What does the business size change?

A small business is left more coins and small notes; a large business is also left bigger notes, because it has to give change for higher payments. You change the setting on the tomorrow's float screen and the suggestion is worked out again straight away. The amount you enter is also kept for the next day's till opening.

I entered tomorrow's float. How do I know it was saved?

Back on the main screen a line appears under the icons for a few seconds saying how much was left for the morning. The amount is spelled out on purpose: someone who typed 20000 instead of 200 should see it right there. The next morning the strip comes up on its own.

Admin Panel

What does the Admin Panel show?

Each profile's daily takings and chart. Takings are what was counted minus the float left in the till the day before, so money that only sat overnight is not counted as a second day's income. The panel also opens each profile's history row by row with the times, because the ledger belongs to the whole shop and every row carries the name of whoever saved it.

How do I put a passcode on the panel?

On a clean install the panel has no passcode, and the first person to open Settings > Admin Panel sets it. That person becomes its owner: there is no way to hand the panel over afterwards, so on a shared till phone set it up before anyone else does. The passcode is stored securely on the device and can be renewed with your recovery question if you forget it.

Can an employee delete history?

An employee cannot. There is no way to delete a single entry: only today's and yesterday's can be voided, and a voided row stays in the ledger struck through, in the panel as well, with the day's total lower by that amount. Records go for good in one place only: the owner can clear the history of an already deleted profile from the panel, behind its passcode.

The panel is open but the histories are not there. Why?

They stay locked until the panel has both a passcode and a recovery question. Without a passcode anyone could open the panel and read, or export, the whole shop's takings. The recovery question is asked for as well, because without one the panel passcode could never be changed again.

History

How long is the history kept?

As long as you like. Nothing is deleted as time passes: every count stays on the device until you delete the profile or clear it from the Admin Panel. The list shows the whole history, the chart above it draws the week, the month or twelve months, and you swipe sideways to reach older ones.

How do I get the figures out of the app?

From Settings > History, with the share button; the Admin Panel opens the same screen for each profile. There are two files: one line per day and per currency, or one line per record. The day file carries the counted cash, the opening float, the takings, the expected amount and the difference; the record file carries every row with its time and its kind. The date is written in a fixed format so a spreadsheet can sort it. Neither file can be loaded back into the app, so they are reports, not backups.

Backup

What happens to my data if I delete the app or change phone?

Your data lives on this phone, so take a backup before you change phone or delete the app. The backup in the Admin Panel puts your counts, history, profiles and settings into one file that you keep wherever you like; the button appears once the panel has a passcode and a recovery question. On the new phone you install the app, set the panel up the same way and restore the file.

What should the backup password be, and what if I forget it?

At least eight characters with a digit and a letter in them, plus a capital letter in alphabets that have upper and lower case. If you forget it, the recovery password shown while you save the backup opens the same file, so write that one down as well. Keep both somewhere other than the phone the backup came from.

What does restoring change?

You choose between two paths, and the confirmation shows the date the backup was taken. Merging adds the records and profiles in the file to this device and deletes nothing; replacing deletes the counts, history and profiles here and leaves only what the file holds. Replacing also brings the panel passcode from the file, so you then unlock the panel with the passcode from the old phone; your subscription is not in the backup and comes back with Restore Purchases.

What does iCloud Sync do?

It keeps your records and profiles on every device signed in to the same Apple Account, so a new phone finds them already there. It does not take the place of the backup file: sync covers one Apple Account only, a colleague's phone is a separate account, and switching iCloud off leaves nothing behind. It starts off, and only records and profiles travel; the language, the theme and the panel passcode stay on the device.

How do I turn iCloud Sync on?

The switch is at the bottom of the Backup section in the Admin Panel, and it starts off. Back up to iCloud, right underneath it, sends everything there and then, and the line under the section says when it last went. If the device is not signed in to iCloud, the app says so in the same place and nothing is sent.

Does the app back up on its own?

No, it only reminds you: the file is encrypted with a password you choose and that password is kept nowhere, so backing up on its own would mean keeping it on the phone. In the Admin Panel you set the reminder to daily, weekly or monthly, and it rings at the time of day you set it. The reminder is inside the backup as well, so it is still in place after you restore on a new phone.

Subscription and ads

How do I remove the ads?

Open Settings > Remove Ads and choose one of the subscription plans. Ads stop immediately after the purchase completes. If you have subscribed before — on this device or another one with the same Apple Account — use “Restore Purchases” on the same screen.

Which subscription plans are there?

Three: monthly, yearly, and yearly paid in twelve monthly instalments. On the instalment plan you pay each month and commit to twelve payments, so cancelling does not stop the remaining ones and your access lasts until the twelfth is taken. That plan needs iOS 26.4 or later and is not offered in the United States or Singapore, so on some phones you see two plans instead of three.

How do I cancel the subscription?

Subscriptions are managed by Apple, not by us, so you cancel them on your device:

Open the Settings app > tap your name at the top > Subscriptions > select CashierX > Cancel Subscription.

You keep the ad-free experience until the end of the period you already paid for, and it does not renew after that. On the yearly plan paid in twelve monthly instalments, cancelling does not stop the remaining payments; your access lasts until the twelfth is taken. For refunds, contact Apple Support — we have no access to your payment details and cannot issue refunds ourselves.

Which languages and currencies are supported?

Thirteen languages: English, Türkçe, Français, Deutsch, Italiano, Español, Português, العربية, Tiếng Việt, اردو, हिन्दी, 日本語 and 한국어. Forty-four currencies, the euro, the dollar, the pound and the Turkish lira among them. Both can be changed at any time in Settings; changing the currency does not delete anything.

How do I change my advertising choices?

If you are in the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom, Settings > Privacy Options reopens Google’s consent form so you can change what you agreed to. Outside those regions that row is not shown, because the consent form does not apply. Tracking permission itself is controlled by iOS, under Settings > Privacy & Security > Tracking on your device.
